Has it been nine years since you departed?
Funny, I could've sworn it was yesterday.
I still mourn when I think of how we parted,
It wouldn't have been if I had had my way.
The world has turned and times have changed a lot,
Yet what remains the same is you and me.
Our bond of love eternal, free from rot.
Until we meet this life will have to be,
Devoid of a harbour that sheltered me.
The seed you planted has grown and matured.
Its blooms perfume the garden gloriously,
While all enjoy its fruit and are nurtured.
As they sit in its shade contentedly.
If only you were here yourself to see.
